Nokesville K-8 School
Prince William County Public Schools, Nokesville, Virginia
Nokesville K-8 School was designed to replace an outdated elementary school in a close-knit community of Prince William County. Constructed on the same site with the existing Brentsville High School, students now remain on a single campus from kindergarten through the 12th grade with co-located programs integrating different types of educational needs.
Two separate academic wings help reduce the scale of the facility. One wing houses administrative spaces and serves middle school students and the other provides spaces for elementary school students. A two-story corridor links the two wings and provides access to the gymnasium, student dining, courtyard, multi-purpose room, and music classrooms. At the opposite end of the academic wings from main corridor are the art rooms and the media center. These spaces at the lower end of the academic wings complete an internal circulation loop and enclose a large internal courtyard. This courtyard provides a secure enclosure for outdoor activities and also serves as an outdoor art space.
